GAUS and PCRWR Launch Water Conservation awareness campaign

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) Grand Asian University Sialkot (GAUS) in collaboration with the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) on Friday organized a Water Conservation and Water Security Awareness Campaign along with a Water Testing Camp at Sialkot Public school and College.

Held under the theme,“Every Drop Counts:Building a Water-Secure Future,” the event aimed to educate students and community members about water scarcity,responsible water use,water quality,public health,rainwater harvesting and sustainable water management practices.

A major attraction of the campaign was the PCRWR Water Testing Camp, where experts demonstrated water quality assessment techniques and highlighted key water quality parameters, common contaminants and the health risks associated with unsafe drinking water.

Participants were also informed about practical household measures to conserve water and protect water resources for future generations.

The program featured awareness presentations,interactive sessions,educational materials and water conservation pledge activities,encouraging students to play an active role in addressing water-related challenges.

Speakers emphasized the importance of water conservation and sustainable resource management in the face of increasing water stress and climate-related challenges.

They urged young people to adopt responsible consumption habits and contribute towards safeguarding water resources.

The initiative reflects the growing collaboration between GAUS and PCRWR in promoting environmental awareness, scientific literacy and community outreach.

University officials said the activity supports the objectives of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, particularly in the areas of Water,education and Research,Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships.

The participants appreciated the awareness campaign and expressed their commitment to promoting water conservation practices within their communities.
