From the blessed city of Prophet to sacred house of Allah: Pakistan’s Hajj mission advances

SAUDI ARABIA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) The first group of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims, comprising 155 individuals, arrived in Makkah al-Mukarramah on Sunday after completing their stay in Madina, marking the beginning of the next phase of Pakistan’s Hajj operation. Upon their arrival, the pilgrims were warmly received by Director-General Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro, along with Chief Coordinator Makkah Dr. Mirza Ali Mahsood, Coordinator for Residential, food and Transport Zulfiqar Khan, Director Hajj Makkah Arif Aslam Rao, Deputy Director Hajj Azizullah Khan, and other senior officials of the Hajj mission.

DG Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro said all pilgrims had been accommodated in the Markaziyah area of Madinah, the central district surrounding Masjid al-Nabawi, allowing easy walking access to the Prophet’s Mosque. He added that the same standard of care, coordination, and facilitation would continue in Makkah. Key Improvements Introduced this year highlighting operational enhancements, Soomro said the entire Hajj system had been reviewed in detail from arrival and intra-city movement to accommodation and the eventual transfer to the holy sites of Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah with targeted improvements introduced at every stage. One of the most notable changes this year relates to Mina arrangements. Pilgrims are now being provided with advance details of their tent numbers, corridors, and bed allocations before reaching the site. The Mina facilities have already been fully prepared, featuring air-conditioned tents, sofa-cum-beds, and essential amenities.

Officials say the objective is to ensure pilgrims arrive with clarity and comfort, avoiding confusion during one of the most spiritually intense phases of Hajj. “We want pilgrims to reach the Masha’ir and settle immediately without any difficulty,” Soomro said.

Upgraded Housing and Digital Systems in Makkah, the Hajj mission has expanded its accommodation network by introducing new housing sectors, while retaining previously well-rated buildings from last year. Officials say this has resulted in an overall improvement in residential standards. The Nusuk card distribution system and pre-arrival data management process have also been upgraded. According to the mission, these improvements now allow for faster completion of registration, accommodation assignment, and related formalities immediately upon arrival, significantly reducing waiting times experienced in previous years.

Concluding his remarks, DG Hajj expressed confidence that Pakistan’s Hajj Mission would once again deliver a strong performance at the international level. He noted that the mission had previously received recognition in excellence categories and expressed hope that this year’s improvements would help maintain or surpass that standard in 2026. For the 155 pilgrims who arrived in Makkah on Sunday, however, the administrative milestones mattered little in that moment. Their journey had reached its destination the Kaaba was near, and everything else, for now, could wait.
