Both sides reviewed security situation in province and discussed steps to facilitate business growth
LAHORE: (UrduPoint /UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 22nd, 2026) A delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry called on Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi at the Home Department to discuss the overall law and order situation and measures to promote business activities.
The delegation was led by FPCCI Vice President Zaki Aijaz and included Oil Marketing Association Chairman Tariq Mehmood and FPCCI Regional Secretary Rabia Dar. Senior officials of the Home Department were also present.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the security situation in the province and discussed steps to facilitate business growth. The supply of quality petroleum products amid the current regional scenario also came under discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said the Punjab government is ensuring a safe environment to attract investment and is utilizing all available resources to maintain law and order. He added that a comprehensive crackdown is underway against drugs, illegal weapons, and criminal activities across the province.
He said modern equipment is being acquired for forensic science, while recruitment and training of experts are in progress to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies. Security measures in educational institutions are also being strengthened through the use of modern technology.
Highlighting prison reforms, the home secretary said multiple initiatives have been introduced for the rehabilitation and vocational training of inmates. He added that efforts are being made to educate illiterate prisoners, while industries have been established in prisons in collaboration with the private sector to impart skills.
The FPCCI delegation expressed interest in products manufactured by prisoners in Punjab jails. Zaki Aijaz termed the rehabilitation and skill development initiatives commendable and said the federation is willing to support the marketing of quality products made by inmates. He also appreciated the Home Department’s efforts in maintaining law and order across the province.
