Former SHO arrested for negligence in rape case registration in Khanewal

KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid has ordered for the arrest of former Station House Officer (SHO) of Chab Kalan police station, Zeeshan Haider, for allegedly delaying the registration of a rape case and concealing facts.

According to police sources, the action was taken in connection with case FIR No. 488/26 registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The incident involved an alleged rape of a woman, identified as Ramzana Bibi, in Chak No. 74/15-L.

Police said the former SHO failed to register the case promptly and allegedly attempted to suppress material facts related to the incident.

Following an inquiry and on charges of negligence, the former SHO was arrested, detained in lock-up and a case was registered against him.

DPO Muhammad Abid said that any delay or obstruction in providing justice to victims would not be tolerated at any cost, adding that strict action would continue against officials found negligent in the discharge of their duties.

“No one is above the law,” the DPO reiterated.
