Five held involved in hawala, illegal currency exchange network

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has busted an organized network involved in hawala/hundi and illegal Currency exchange, arresting five suspects during a major operation.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the action was carried out by the Corporate Crime Circle Lahore, which apprehended the accused including Waseem Mehmood Afridi, Abdul Wahab, Idrees Khan, Ishaq and Zubair.

The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted at Delhi Gate Lahore, while the alleged ringleader, Waseem Mehmood Afridi, was separately arrested from Park View City Lahore.

During the operation, FIA officials recovered more than Rs 11.2 million in cash from the possession of the accused. mobile phones and other incriminating evidence related to hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchange were also seized.

The suspects have been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesperson added.
