Fire erupts in warehouse at Shanghai Plaza, Rescue 1122 controls blaze in swift Operation

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) A fire broke out in a water pump warehouse located in the basement of Shanghai Plaza on City Saddar Road on Wednesday evening, prompting a swift response from Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi.

According to officials, the Rescue 1122 control room received the emergency call at 6:35 pm. Emergency teams were immediately dispatched and reached the scene within six minutes.

A total of 10 emergency vehicles took part in the operation, including five fire tenders, one ambulance, one Medical Rescue Station (MRS) vehicle, and three additional rescue vehicles.

Rescue personnel demonstrated professional expertise by first bringing the flames in the outer portion of the warehouse under control.

Firefighters later cut through the shutter and entered the basement using Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to continue firefighting efforts inside the warehouse. The operation aimed to completely extinguish the blaze and prevent any loss of life or property.

The rescue operation is being supervised by District Emergency Officer Engineer Sibghatullah.

According to the Rescue 1122 media coordinator, the situation is under control, and cooling and search operations are ongoing to ensure complete safety.

Citizens have been urged to immediately call 1122 in case of any emergency and to cooperate fully with rescue teams during such situations.
