LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered a gang involved in extorting bribes from citizens intending to travel abroad, during a major operation conducted by the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore.
According to an FIA spokesperson, four employees of the Protector of Emigrants Office Lahore allegedly involved in corruption and malpractice were arrested. The arrested suspects include a data entry operator, a lower division clerk, a watchman and a sanitary worker.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Investigations revealed that the accused deliberately delayed the processing of applicants’ cases in order to blackmail citizens and extort money from them. The suspects allegedly used delaying tactics while processing a complainant’s case and, in collusion with one another, received Rs100,000 as bribe.
The spokesperson said the bribe money was allegedly collected through JazzCash as well as in cash.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the spokesperson added.
