Father dies trying to save son in Haripur well tragedy

HARIPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) A retired police inspector and his son lost their lives in a tragic incident after entering a well in the Miratoot area within the jurisdiction of Sarai Saleh Police Station on Tuesday.

According to initial reports, Hameed Shah, s/o retired Police Inspector Basharat Shah, descended into a well and reportedly began suffocating due to a lack of oxygen. Seeing his son in distress, Basharat Shah immediately entered the well to rescue him.

Both father and son became trapped inside the well and died before they could be rescued. Rescue teams later recovered their bodies from the well.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, while authorities investigate the circumstances of the tragedy.
