Emergency operation seals 10-Foot breach in Muzaffargarh canal

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) A breach in the Sohrab Nala in Jatoi tehsil was successfully sealed after water began flowing into nearby agricultural lands, rescue sources said on Sunday.

According to officials, the breach in the nala widened from eight feet to about 10 feet, raising fears that nearby settlements could be affected.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122, along with the Punjab Irrigation Department, launched a joint operation to control the situation and reduce the flow of water.

The teams immediately initiated relief and repair work at the site. Using sandbags and an excavator, they managed to plug the breach and prevent further damage.

Rescue sources confirmed that the situation is now under control and the potential threat to nearby residential areas has been averted.
