Eid-ul-Azha celebrated in Karachi with religious fervor

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) In commemoration of the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael (AS), Eid-ul-Azha was being celebrated here on Wednesday with religious devotion and fervor.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for unity of the Muslim Ummah and progress, prosperity and security of the country. The devotees in large numbers flocked to Eidgahs, Masajid, Imambargahs and other designated places to offer the Eid prayers- that was followed by sacrifice of animals.

The main Eid-ul-Azha prayer congregation was organized at Gulshan-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground), where Mayor Karachi Berrester Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor and other elected representatives, diplomats and notables of the city offered the Eid prayers and prayed for the progress, prosperity and stability of the country.

Sindh Police made special security arrangements at the occasion to maintain peace and order and avert any untoward situation while Karachi administration, KMC and other town municipal corporations, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Water and Sewerage Corporation, and other related departments framed a contingency plan to ensure cleanliness and lifting of the offals of the sacrificial animals.

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board has established collection points in different areas of the metropolis for disposal of offal of sacrificial animals. The teams of the board were assigned to collect, door to door, the animal offal and waste, transport it to collection points and their further disposal to Jam Chakro, Gond Pass and Sharafi landfill points where those were being dumped into 9 large pits specially excavated for the purpose.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Home Department has issued the code of conduct for collection of hides of sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha, making the district administration's prior permission mandatory for hide collection and banning establishment of camps, displaying banners, and use of loudspeakers for the purpose.
