Youm-e-Takbeer symbolizes national strength: Gilani

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, stating that May 28 symbolizes Pakistan’s national pride, sovereignty, and defensive strength.

He said that on this historic day, Pakistan demonstrated its resolve and capability by successfully conducting nuclear tests, establishing itself as a strong and sovereign nuclear power.

In his message, the Chairman Senate noted that Youm-e-Takbeer serves as a reminder of national unity, determination, and sacrifice. He paid tribute to the political and military leadership, scientists, engineers, and institutions whose efforts made Pakistan’s nuclear programme a success, with special recognition for the contributions of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and his team.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani stated that Pakistan has not only demonstrated remarkable defensive capabilities but has also played a constructive and responsible role on the international stage through prudent diplomacy aimed at promoting peace, stability, and mutual respect.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s strong defence and balanced foreign policy remain the cornerstones of its national security and global standing.
