ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) The spirit of Eid celebrations continued with full enthusiasm on the third day in the Federal capital, as families stepped out to visit relatives, attend social gatherings, and enjoy recreational spots across the city.
Unlike the first day, which is largely reserved for close family, and the second day for extended relatives, the third day of Eid is increasingly becoming a time for leisure and social outings. Residents thronged parks, restaurants, and picnic spots, making the most of the extended holiday.
Many families spent the day visiting relatives they could not meet earlier, exchanging greetings and sharing traditional meals. Homes remained abuzz with activity as guests continued to arrive, keeping alive the essence of togetherness and hospitality associated with Eid.
In addition to family visits, a large number of people, particularly youth and children, turned to outdoor recreation. Public parks witnessed a significant influx of visitors, with families enjoying the pleasant weather, while children participated in various recreational activities. Restaurants and eateries across the capital also saw a surge in customers as people preferred dining out with friends and family. Long queues were observed at popular food outlets, reflecting the festive mood and eagerness to celebrate beyond the confines of home.
Talking to APP, Ali, a visitor, said that after two days of family gatherings, the third day is usually reserved for outings with friends. “We planned a dinner and a visit to Lake View Park to relax and enjoy the Eid festivities,” he shared.
Another visitor, Ayera, a housewife, told APP that she visited a recreational site with her husband and children. “Children enjoy going out more than staying at home. In the morning, relatives and friends visited our home to exchange Eid greetings. I prepared Sheer Khurma and other traditional dishes for them.
Now it is family time, and the children are also spending their Eidi on rides and food of their choice,” she said.
Event planners and private hosts also arranged small gatherings and parties, particularly for young people, adding a modern touch to traditional celebrations. Despite rising expenses, citizens continued to participate actively in festivities, highlighting the cultural importance of Eid as a time of joy, sharing, and community bonding.
Meanwhile, a steady stream of citizens has begun returning to the federal capital after celebrating Eid with their families in native towns. The post-Eid influx has noticeably increased activity at major entry points, bus terminals, and Islamabad International Airport.
Transport terminals witnessed a significant rush as passengers poured in by buses and trains, while many others headed to the federal capital in private vehicles. Domestic airports also reported a surge in arrivals, with families returning from Eid holidays carrying gifts, traditional food items, and treasured memories.
Talking to APP, Sadiq, a commuter belonging to Charsadda, said that Eid in the village has its own charm—meeting relatives, enjoying traditional food, and spending quality time with family. “But now it’s time to get back to work,” he added.
Manahil, another visitor from Sahiwal, told APP that while the return journey is often tiring due to heavy traffic and crowded transport, the opportunity to celebrate Eid with loved ones makes it worthwhile.
Authorities have made arrangements to manage the increased flow of passengers, ensuring smooth traffic and transport operations in and around the capital.
As Eid celebrations draw to a close, the third day stands out as a blend of tradition and recreation, offering people an opportunity to strengthen social ties while enjoying moments of relaxation and entertainment.
