Eco-friendly fishing event organizes at Khanpur Dam

KHANPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) A fishing angling competition was organized at Khanpur Dam under the joint collaboration of the Fisheries Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the fishing rights contractor.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from fishing enthusiasts and teams coming from Rawalpindi, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, and other areas.

Participants showcased impressive skills throughout the competition. The purpose of the event was to promote healthy recreational activities, encourage responsible fishing practices, and raise awareness about the conservation of aquatic resources.

Arshad Mehmood secured first position in the competition and was awarded a trophy and cash prize by Director General Fisheries Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zubair Ali.

On the occasion, a fish seed stocking (fish seed release) ceremony was also held at Khanpur Dam.

Officials from the Fisheries Department stated that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting fisheries, strengthening tourism, and ensuring the sustainable conservation of aquatic resources.
