Drug pusher awarded 29-year imprisonment

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Additional Sessions Judge Naveed-ur-Rehman has awarded total 29 years rigorous imprisonment to a drug trafficker along with heavy fines.

According to the police spokesman, Kotwali police had registered a case when Sub Inspector (SI) Sheikh Nadeem Ahmad had recovered 5,500 grams of opium and 7,000 grams of hashish from the possession of the accused Ali Murtaza during a successful operation.

The police submitted a strong challan backed by solid evidence for ensuring effective prosecution of the case which led to conviction of the accused.

He said that Additional Sessions Judge Naveed-ur-Rehman announced the verdict and convicted accused Ali Murtaza after the charges were proven under relevant sections of the narcotics law.

The court awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs400,000 under section 3(d), and an additional 15 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs500,000 under section 5(e). In case of non-payment of fine, the convict will have to undergo an additional five months imprisonment, he added.
