LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2026) Director General(DG) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Asim Javed on Saturday extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the Muslim Ummah,stating that food safety teams remained active in the field to ensure provision of safe and healthy food during the festive occasion.
In a statement,he said that all officers were supervising food safety teams and field operations in their respective areas on Eid-ul-Fitr.
Sharing Ramadan performance,he said that from the start till the end of the holy month,a total of 126,354 Sehri and Iftar points were inspected across the province.
During the crackdown,183 cases were registered,296 food units were sealed,while fines amounting to Rs137.73 million were imposed on 9,705 units.
He further said that during inspections,as much as 282,833 kilograms of substandard food items,beverages,oil and sauces were discarded.
DG PFA Asim Javed said that by the grace of Almighty Allah,Muslims benefited from the blessings of Ramadan, adding that Eid-ul-Fitr symbolized joy,gratitude,unity and harmony.
He advised citizens to adopt moderation in eating habits after Ramadan to maintain good health, and urged them to also take care of underprivileged people in their surroundings.
The DG asked citizens to report any food-related complaints on the helpline 1223,adding that on the directions of the chief minister Punjab,food safety teams were actively working in the field to safeguard public health.
