Deputy Commissioner directs departments to strengthen fire prevention measures

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) In view of the ongoing intense heatwave, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan on Wednesday chaired an important meeting to review fire prevention, preparedness and emergency response measures in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Mehran Khan, administrative officers and representatives of the Forest Department, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Police and other relevant departments.

The participants reviewed potential fire incidents, risks of wildfires and fires on government land, firefighting preparedness, available resources and coordination mechanisms among departments during emergencies.

Officials of the concerned departments briefed the meeting on their current arrangements and preparedness plans.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert in view of the increased risk of fire outbreaks due to extreme heat and dry weather conditions.

He instructed authorities to ensure the availability of firefighting equipment, machinery and personnel at all times and maintain continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations.

He also directed the Forest Department to strengthen surveillance in forest areas and further enhance preventive measures against forest fires.

The meeting decided to maintain effective coordination among all concerned departments and further activate emergency response mechanisms to ensure the protection of human lives, property and natural resources.

Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan appealed to citizens to adopt precautionary measures during the hot weather and immediately report any fire incident to the relevant authorities to help prevent losses and ensure timely response.
