DC orders action over flaws in City Road, Katchehri Bazaar beautification project

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Monday took serious notice of defects and drainage issues that surfaced in the City Road and Katchehri Bazaar Beautification Project following recent rains.

Chairing an emergency review meeting, the deputy commissioner expressed strong displeasure over the situation and directed the issuance of show-cause notices to the relevant officers of the Highways Department, FESCO and WASA.

He ordered a comprehensive technical review of the project to identify all defects, determine their causes and recommend permanent corrective measures.

The deputy commissioner warned that negligence, substandard workmanship and irresponsible conduct in public welfare projects would not be tolerated, adding that those found responsible would face legal action.

The meeting decided to immediately connect the stormwater drainage system of Katchehri Bazaar and City Road with the underground storage tank at Company Bagh to improve drainage and prevent rainwater from accumulating in shops and basements.

He also directed legal action against service providers who had damaged roads or footpaths without permission while laying cables, internet lines or other utility infrastructure.

The deputy commissioner urged traders to modify their shop drains and rainwater outlets in accordance with the approved design to ensure smooth drainage during rainfall.

He further directed the relevant departments to conduct a joint survey of every component of the project, remove technical flaws on a priority basis, establish an effective monitoring mechanism and ensure completion of the project in line with the prescribed standards.

President Sargodha Chamber of Commerce Khawaja Yasir Yaqoob, SE FESCO Abrar Ahmad, ADCG Ghulam Sarwar, XEN Highways Gulfam Awan, MD WASA Abu Bakar Imran, Deputy Director Development Mehtab Yaseen and officers of the concerned departments attended the meeting.
