BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the performance of district departments, key performance indicators (KPIs), public welfare projects, and administrative affairs.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Saddar Hamza Ehtesham, Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Bahawalpur Mujtaba Manzoor, Deputy Director Local Government Khurshid Ahmed, System Network Administrator Azeem Zeeshan, and officers from various government departments.
During the meeting, participants reviewed departmental performance, progress toward assigned targets, delivery of public services, cleanliness initiatives, price control measures, revenue matters, civic amenities, and implementation of government policies. Heads of the respective departments briefed the Deputy Commissioner on their performance, ongoing development projects, and public service initiatives.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza directed all government departments to ensure the achievement of assigned targets and adopt effective strategies to further improve the quality of public service delivery. He emphasized that the timely and transparent completion of public welfare projects remains a top priority of the Punjab Government and warned that delays or negligence in development schemes would not be tolerated. The Deputy Commissioner stated that officers and officials demonstrating poor performance would be held accountable, while those showing outstanding performance would be recognized and encouraged to promote good governance and a stronger culture of public service.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Suthra Punjab” initiative, including district-wide cleanliness campaigns, waste management operations, and the provision of civic amenities. The Deputy Commissioner directed the relevant departments to further improve sanitation standards and establish an efficient and sustainable cleanliness system in both urban and rural areas to provide citizens with a clean, healthy, and pleasant environment.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Reviewing the ongoing campaign against stray dogs, the Deputy Commissioner instructed authorities to intensify operations to eliminate the menace, stressing that the protection of citizens' lives and property is one of the district administration's foremost responsibilities. The meeting was informed that more than 3,600 stray dogs have been eliminated across Bahawalpur so far, while operations in the remaining areas will continue without interruption.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the immediate identification of open manholes across the city and ordered the installation of protective covers to prevent accidents. Officials informed the meeting that since August last year, more than 2,170 manhole covers have been installed, while work at the remaining locations will be completed as early as possible. The meeting further reviewed the ongoing crackdown against the sale and smuggling of illegal and non-duty-paid foreign cigarettes. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to intensify indiscriminate action against those involved in illegal trade to ensure strict enforcement of government laws. He also directed Price Control Magistrates to ensure that essential commodities are sold strictly according to government-notified rates and to conduct daily operations against profiteering, hoarding, and overcharging to provide maximum relief to consumers.
The participants also discussed uninterrupted availability of petroleum products at filling stations, expeditious disposal of revenue cases, improvement in the recovery of government dues, and effective implementation of government policies. The Deputy Commissioner instructed all departments to avoid unnecessary delays in resolving public issues and to strengthen coordination and teamwork for improved governance and service delivery. Concluding the meeting, Syed Hassan Raza reaffirmed that providing citizens with a safe, clean, and well-facilitated environment remains the district administration's highest priority. He expressed confidence that all departments would work collectively to enhance the quality of public services and achieve the Punjab Government's governance and development objectives through professionalism, accountability, and effective teamwork.
