KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) The Deputy Commissioner, Kohat on Wednesday directed to launch a crackdown against illegal placer gold mining, directing authorities to take strict legal action against those involved and strengthen coordination to protect the district's natural resources.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting attended by the district police officer, officials from the district administration, the Minerals Department, the Forest Department and other relevant agencies.
The officials briefed the meeting on the challenges posed by illegal mining and related issues. The deputy commissioner instructed departments to intensify enforcement efforts and ensure coordinated action against unlawful mining operations.
In a separate meeting of the District Monitoring Implementation Committee, chaired by the deputy commissioner, officials from the district administration, police, Customs Department and other agencies reviewed law and order and public safety measures.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The deputy commissioner instructed all departments to use available resources to implement the Revised National Action Plan effectively, stressing that lasting peace is essential for development and prosperity and that no compromise on law and order would be tolerated.
The committee also reviewed illegal spectrum-related activities, with the deputy commissioner issuing directions to the relevant departments to strengthen enforcement. He urged all agencies to carry out their responsibilities diligently to prevent disruptive elements from achieving their objectives.
The deputy commissioner also called for stricter action against smuggling, reiterating a policy of zero tolerance toward illegal cross-border trade and related offences.
