DC chairs meeting on Nullah Bhed improvement

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali chaired a meeting of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) committee regarding Nullah Bhed, reviewing its current condition, desilting, expansion and alignment.

Officers of relevant departments and other stakeholders attended the meeting.

During the meeting, various proposals were discussed to improve the drainage system of the nullah. It was agreed that regular desilting, expansion and better alignment of the water channel would be carried out to prevent water accumulation in urban areas during the rainy season.

The DC directed that dumping of garbage in and around Nullah Bhed was strictly prohibited and violators would face heavy fines, while FIRs would also be registered where necessary.

According to a spokesperson for the DC Office, Saba Asghar Ali also directed the authorities to develop scientific and standard indicators to improve the cleanliness system and ensure effective monitoring.

She said providing a clean environment to citizens was the top priority of the district administration and improvement of Nullah Bhed would help strengthen the city’s drainage system. She directed the concerned departments to ensure immediate implementation of the decisions.
