ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) Islamabad CTO Kainat Azhar Khan on Sunday emphasized discipline and compliance with traffic rules for Muharram processions, urging participants to use only designated parking spaces as ICTP ensures strict enforcement for smooth traffic flow.
While speaking exclusively with a local media outlet, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad stressed the importance of discipline and orderly conduct during Muharram processions, issuing a strong advisory to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
She urged participants to strictly follow traffic rules, use designated parking areas and cooperate with traffic police arrangements to avoid inconvenience and congestion on roads.
The CTO warned that any violation of the traffic plan would not be tolerated, emphasizing that strict enforcement measures would be taken to maintain discipline and avoid disruption during religious gatherings.
To another query, she said that due to rising population and increased intercity movement between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, especially on weekends, heavy traffic rush is being witnessed on major roads. However, she added that Islamabad Police is actively enforcing traffic rules to manage flow and reduce congestion.
She noted that the growing number of commuters has put additional pressure on the road network, leading to frequent traffic bottlenecks during peak hours and weekends.

To another query, she highlighted the role of Safe City cameras in monitoring traffic and ensuring law enforcement across the capital. She said the system enables real-time surveillance and helps authorities quickly identify violations on major roads.
CTO warned that all traffic violations are being closely monitored through the Safe City network, making it difficult to escape enforcement action.
She further cautioned motorists that strict legal action will be taken against any violation, as the Islamabad Police remains committed to maintaining discipline, road safety and smooth traffic flow.
Kainat concluded that public awareness and responsible behavior are essential for improving traffic discipline, stressing that citizens’ attitude plays a key role in ensuring road safety.
She added that, like other countries, people must adopt discipline and follow traffic rules to build a safer and more organized road system.
