CS visits Counter Narcotics Headquarters, aims at drug eradication

Chief Secretary (CS) Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited the headquarters of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) and expressed his commitment to complete eradication of the scourge of drugs

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Chief Secretary (CS) Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited the headquarters of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) and expressed his commitment to complete eradication of the scourge of drugs.

He said that full support will be provided to the Counter Narcotics Force for the eradication of drugs and this force will fulfill its Primary goal of making Punjab drug-free.

The Chief Secretary further said that the Chief Minister Punjab has many expectations from this force, and merit and transparency have been given priority in the formation of the CNF.

According to sources, DG CNF Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Secretary during the visit.

During the last six months, the CNF conducted a total of 510 anti-narcotics operations, during which 15.

4 tons of drugs were recovered, the value of which in the global market was estimated at about Rs 1.8 billion.

According to the details, 12,500 kg of hashish was recovered from the Gujranwala region alone, while 407 accused were arrested during the operations and 283 FIRs were registered. Along with this, some weapons and 12 quadcopters were also seized along with the drugs.

The Chief Secretary was also informed in the briefing that a “Youth Awareness Campaign” has been launched in 53,000 educational institutions of Punjab to make the youth aware of the dangers of drugs.

Additionally, Secretary Excise and Taxation Masood Mukhtar, DG Excise Omar Sher Chatha, and all directors and relevant officers of CNF were also present during the visit.
