Crime rate declines significantly in Punjab due to effective policies: Minister Azma

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari has said that the crime rate in Punjab has declined significantly and the overall law and order situation in the province has improved noticeably.

In a statement issued on Friday, she said that the reduction in crime is the result of the effective strategy and sound policies of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. She added that the Crime Control Department (CCD) and the Punjab Police have played a key role in reducing crime across the province.

Azma Bokhari said that due to the effective performance of the CCD and Punjab Police, even minor daily crime incidents have decreased considerably in several districts of the province.

She further said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, taking into account the growing public confidence and appreciation for the CCD, has decided to transform the department into a premier agency so that more effective action can be taken against criminal elements.

The provincial minister said that the current law and order indicators and crime statistics in Punjab are encouraging and reflect the government’s effective governance and policy measures.

She emphasized that no one in Punjab can now dare to cast an evil eye on any mother, sister or daughter, adding that the protection of women is the first priority and clear red line of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Azma Bokhari also said that every officer and official of the Punjab Police has been directed to adopt a courteous and respectful attitude toward citizens and address them as “Sir” and “Janab” to further strengthen the relationship of trust and respect between the police and the public.
