Court allows one-day exemption plea of Pervez Elahi in illegal recruitment case

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) An anti-corruption court on Tuesday accepted a one-day exemption from personal appearance for former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and his close aide Muhammad Khan Bhatti in a case related to alleged illegal recruitments in the Punjab Assembly.

The hearing was conducted by Judge Javed Iqbal Waraich of the Anti-Corruption Court.

During the proceedings, the court approved the one-day exemption requests submitted by Pervaiz Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti. The court also sought arguments on Pervez Elahi’s application seeking permanent exemption from personal appearance.

Meanwhile, the court directed counsel to present arguments on the acquittal application filed by co-accused.

After the brief proceedings, the court adjourned the hearing of the case until March 31.
