ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar Tuesday said that Pakistan is a responsible and nuclear state, therefore, the public and the media should keep the constitution and national interest in mind while expressing their opinions on international affairs, especially foreign policy.

Addressing a news conference at ptv headquarters, the Federal Minister for Law and Justice said that Pakistan has always adopted a balanced and responsible stance during the recent tensions in the region. He said that whenever any incident occurred at the global or regional level, Pakistan reacted according to diplomatic principles and kept in mind its long-standing relations with friendly countries.

The Law Minister said that under Article 19 of the Constitution of Pakistan, every citizen has the right to freedom of expression, however, there are some reasonable restrictions with this freedom. These restrictions are related to matters such as the greatness of islam, Pakistan’s security, defense, relations with friendly countries, public order, morality and contempt of court.

He said that in the past few days, some comments have been seen on social and electronic media that may create a wrong impression at the diplomatic level.

He said that no individual or group has the right to make such statements about Pakistan’s foreign policy that may affect relations with friendly countries.

Azam Tarar said that Pakistan has decades of friendly relations with Gulf and other brotherly Islamic countries, therefore, to say that Pakistan should be with one country and against another, neither the Constitution allows it nor does the national interest require it.

He said that the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are fulfilling their responsibilities to reduce tension and promote peace in the region. According to the Law Minister, the Prime Minister is also in constant contact with the leaders of the region so that efforts can be made to resolve the disputes peacefully.

In response to a question, the Federal Law Minister appealed to the public, journalists and social media users to keep in mind the limits of the Constitution and law while expressing their opinions and avoid such statements that may affect Pakistan’s relations with friendly countries.
