Commissioner, RPO review security arrangements for 8th Muharram procession in Talagang

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa on Wednesday visited Talagang to review security and administrative arrangements for the main 8th Muharram procession.

Deputy Commissioner Chakwal Sara Hayat, District Police Officer (DPO) Kashif Zulfiqar, Assistant Commissioner Talagang Suleman Mansha and officers of the district administration, police and other relevant departments accompanied them during the visit.

The Commissioner and RPO conducted a detailed inspection of the procession route and reviewed security measures, medical camps, arrangements for the distribution of Niyaz, provision of drinking water, cleanliness, municipal services, and other administrative matters.

They also inspected CCTV cameras and monitoring systems installed along the procession route to ensure effective surveillance.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Amir Khattak directed officials to ensure foolproof security for the main procession, Imambargahs, and other sensitive locations.

He stressed the need for continuous and effective monitoring until the conclusion of the procession and directed authorities to ensure strict implementation of the Muharram code of conduct and all standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The Commissioner said all relevant institutions should perform their responsibilities diligently to maintain law and order, promote inter-sect harmony, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens during Muharram.
