Commissioner reviews progress of Thalassemia Center project

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia chaired a review meeting at the Commissioner Office regarding

development project of the Thalassemia Center.

The meeting was attended by Director Health Services Dr Tanveer Shah, Principal Quaid-e-Azam Medical

College Professor Dr Sofia Farrukh, Medical Superintendent Bahawal Victoria Hospital Dr Abdul Rehman, Medical Superintendent Sir Sadiq Abbasi Hospital Dr Hamid Khan, Director Development Ismat Ullah, SE Buildings Muhammad Faisal, Executive Engineer Buildings Muhammad Imran and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the reasons behind delays in the completion of the Thalassemia Center project, utilization of funds, construction progress, and technical matters.

Relevant officials briefed the meeting about the current status of the project, challenges being faced, and the future course of action.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia stated that, in light of the directives issued during the recent visit of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique to Bahawalpur, the Thalassemia Center project would be completed at the earliest to ensure the provision of modern healthcare facilities to the public. He directed the concerned officers to carefully review all technical aspects of the project and ensure that no compromise is made on construction quality. He also made it clear that negligence or delays in the project would not be tolerated.
