QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has paid tribute to veterinary experts on the occasion of World Veterinary Day, acknowledging their vital role in strengthening the link between human and animal health.
In his statement, Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that veterinary professionals are central to promoting public health and ensuring safe food systems. He noted that Balochistan is making progress toward local vaccine production to strengthen animal health, which will help control diseases and foster self-reliance.
The Chief Minister highlighted that modern reform policies are being introduced to improve the livestock sector and increase productivity. He underscored the importance of protecting indigenous livestock breeds in the face of climate change, adding that effective measures are being taken in this regard.
Sarfraz Bugti further added that through public-private partnerships, livestock farms are being modernized, while agricultural policies are focusing on value addition and exports in the livestock sector.
He announced that veterinary laboratories are being upgraded to ensure quality meat and milk production, stressing the critical role of veterinary experts in tackling challenges such as antimicrobial resistance.
He also pointed out that the government is taking practical steps to empower women in the dairy sector, expanding mobile veterinary services to provide doorstep facilities to livestock owners, and introducing digital systems for monitoring and early diagnosis of zoonotic diseases.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment, CM Sarfraz Bugti said that the genetic preservation of indigenous livestock breeds is crucial for both the economy and culture of Balochistan, and all available resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.
