CM chairs 14th PDA meeting, approves budget, orders crackdown on illegal constructions

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Friday chaired the 14th meeting of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), where key decisions were taken regarding the 2025-26 budget, urban development, land management, and stricter action against illegal constructions across the provincial capital.

According to a spokesperson for the C. House, the meeting approved the PDA budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 along with several major development and administrative proposals aimed at improving urban discipline and public convenience.

The meeting decided to intensify action against illegal constructions and unauthorized commercial activities to ensure better civic management in Peshawar. A proposal to bring Nasir Bagh Road under the jurisdiction of PDA was agreed upon and directed to be presented before the cabinet for final approval.

The CM directed that a mandatory 20-foot distance be maintained for buildings along Nasir Bagh Road and stressed that anti-encroachment operations should be carried out without causing unnecessary hardship to the public. It was also decided to implement a building control and regulatory system on the road.

The meeting approved additional land allocation and re-planning for the Institute of Management Sciences, while recreational commercial projects in Bagh Naran and Shalman Park were cancelled with approval for refund of security deposits.

The CM said public concerns and court directives required parks to be protected from commercial use.

Special access road construction from Hayatabad for FC Teaching Hospital was also approved, along with land allocation for the CTD Regional Headquarters in Hayatabad.

The PDA meeting further approved a six-year lease extension for 16 BTS towers of a private mobile network and granted a one-time relief for restoration of 171 cancelled plots affected by illegal commercial activities. The restoration will be conditional upon payment of outstanding dues and removal of violations.

Applicants seeking restoration of plots have been directed to submit dues, restoration requests, and applicable charges by June 30.

The meeting also gave principle approval to committee recommendations for PDA employees’ promotions and ordered the formation of a complaints redressal committee. Employees will be allowed to submit complaints within 10 days.

A proposal for constructing a boundary wall and surveillance system for Hayatabad Town was discussed, and the Chief Minister sought a formal plan to improve security in sensitive areas and control unnecessary traffic movement.

The meeting also approved the establishment of an Enforcement Directorate for PDA and SOPs for registration of property dealers.

Re-planning approvals were also granted for a petrol pump and commercial site in Regi Model Town and commercial land opposite Hayatabad Medical Complex.
