Civil society urged to play role for women empowerment

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) The speakers opined that empowering women required not only government efforts but also the cooperation of civil society.

They said that for women’s development, it was essential that they had a role in decision-making in every field. These views were expressed by the speakers while addressing a dignified ceremony held on promoting efforts for women empowerment.

The event was organized by the team of the College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences, Bahawalpur, in collaboration with the Nursing College Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) Bahawalpur.

The ceremony was chaired by the Principal of the Nursing College, Ms Nafeesa Tariq.

The speakers including Ms Nafeesa, Ms Tanzila and Mr Sajjad said that women played the most important role in the development of the country. “Along with the government, society must also cooperate in empowering women,” they said, adding that in Punjab, many programs had been introduced that not only aimed to prevent violence against women but also provide various facilities to help them move forward and progress.
