CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Chiniot Traffic Police on Thursday imposed fines totaling Rs14.929 million on 7,439 vehicles for traffic violations during June as part of an intensified road safety campaign launched on the directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif. The enforcement drive is being carried out under the supervision of DSP Traffic Khurram Shahzad to reduce road accidents and improve compliance with traffic laws.

According to official figures, action was taken against 302 motorcyclists for riding without helmets, 30 underage drivers and 356 motorists for driving without valid licenses. Authorities also registered 77 cases against drivers accused of negligent driving during the month.

Traffic police issued challans for a wide range of violations, including 414 cases of overloading, 2,982 line and lane violations, 869 vehicles operating without route permits, 54 one-way violations, 186 unregistered vehicles, 16 motorists using mobile phones while driving and numerous other traffic offences.

In this regard, DPO Dr. Naveed Atif while exclusively talking to APP, said the police were taking practical measures to ensure safer travel for citizens through strict enforcement as well as public awareness campaigns. He said the Traffic education Unit was educating motorists and the public about road safety rules across the district, while a special campaign was also underway to facilitate the issuance of driving licenses and encourage motorists to comply with traffic laws.
