Chief Minister approves over Rs140 bln for development projects

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has approved more than Rs140 billion for 42 development projects during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP).

The approved projects include over Rs 50 billion for the health sector, focusing on the establishment of cath labs, up-gradation of DHQ hospitals, and strengthening the province’s capacity to deal with epidemics and public health emergencies.

Major investments have also been approved in the irrigation and agriculture sectors, with projects aimed at providing water to 170,000 acres of land to boost agricultural productivity and improve the local economy.

The PDWP also approved the establishment of divisional-level Autism Centers of Excellence for special children, reflecting the government’s focus on inclusive development.

Flood protection, irrigation, and canal system projects in Bannu and Lakki Marwat were also approved, which are expected to benefit around 113,400 people and protect valuable agricultural land.

Other approved initiatives include construction of hostels for students at Bannu Medical College, improvement of emergency and secondary healthcare facilities in the merged districts, and development projects in sports, local government, social welfare, excise, and taxation sectors.

The Chief Minister said the approved projects would accelerate socio-economic development across the province and improve the quality of life for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
