Chairman Higher Education Commission Islamabad, Pakistan, Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), paid his first-ever visit to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Chairman Higher Education Commission Islamabad, Pakistan, Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), paid his first-ever visit to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Madad Ali Shah, deans of various faculties, chairpersons of departments, Registrar, Director Finance, Project Director, Director Procurement, Controller of Examinations, Director Colleges and Public Relations, Director ORIC, Director QEC, Director sports, other officers and members of the teaching staff accorded him a warm welcome.

On the occasion, Chairman was accompanied by Director General Higher Education Commission Islamabad Dr Suleman Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Peoples Medical University Nawabshah Dr Gulshan Memon, Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Awam Engineering University Nawabshah Dr Saleem Raza Samo, and Vice Chancellor Sufism University Bhit Shah Dr Imam Din Khoso.

Vice Chancellor SBBU presented him with traditional cultural gifts of Sindh along with the university shield, while Chairman HEC Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar also planted a sapling on the university campus.

During visit, the Chairman HEC was given a detailed briefing in the Syndicate Hall regarding performance of teaching and non-teaching staff, research and publications, and ongoing development projects of the university.

Later, he was also taken on a tour of the Arts and Design Department, Sports Complex, FM Radio Station, boys’ and girls’ hostels, and various academic departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar praised the efforts of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Madad Ali Shah and said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University was making rapid progress in academic, research and administrative fields. He expressed satisfaction over the university’s development projects, educational environment and facilities, and said that HEC would continue to extend every possible support for the improvement of higher education. Chairman said that the fundamental purpose of universities was to provide quality education, promote research and enhance students’ capabilities. Therefore, in line with modern-day requirements, institutions should be provided with new facilities, modern laboratories and better research opportunities. He also appreciated the performance of university’s teachers, officers and staff, and expressed hope that the institution would continue to serve as an important centre of learning for students from Sindh as well as across the country. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Madad Ali Shah thanked chief guest and said that Chairman HEC’s visit would open new avenues of progress for the university and help further strengthen the institution’s academic standards.
