BWMC finalizes Eid sanitation preparations

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia and Regional Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin visited the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company to review cleanliness arrangements for Eid al-Azha, as well as the progress of the Suthra Punjab Program and the Dreams Project.

During the visit, they were accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, District Police Officer Rana Abdul Wahab, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar Muhammad Qasim Gul, Chief Financial Officer Muhammad Imran Ashraf, and other concerned officials.

During the briefing, Managing Director Muhammad Qasim Gul informed the participants that all preparations for the Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operation in Bahawalpur had been completed, while necessary procurement and distribution of waste bags to households had also been finalized. Officials further briefed the delegation that sanitation services were continuously being carried out across the tehsils of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar, while daily meetings with contractors, surprise inspections, and digital monitoring systems were being used to closely monitor cleanliness operations.

Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements for the Suthra Punjab Program and Eid-ul-Azha preparations, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia stated that the Suthra Punjab Program is a flagship initiative of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and would play a vital role in providing citizens with a clean and healthy environment. He directed the concerned authorities to further improve sanitation standards in both urban and rural areas and continue strict action against negligent contractors. The Commissioner also instructed officials to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and ensure the door-to-door provision of waste bags for the disposal of sacrificial animal remains before Eid so that citizens of Bahawalpur can enjoy a clean, healthy, and pleasant environment.
