Before Monsoon: campaign launched for cleaning drains in Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) The Punjab government has for the first time prepared a comprehensive plan for cleaning drains and drains on a large scale across the province, with the aim of improving the sewage system in urban areas and ensuring prevention of possible problems during the monsoon.

According to official sources, during this special campaign, which will continue from May 1 to June 15, the de-silting process will be completed simultaneously in the province.

In this regard, WASA agencies have been mobilized, which will launch a cleaning campaign in their respective districts.

This initiative is being taken on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, under which Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal has assigned a special task to Punjab WASA.

All the concerned officers have been directed to complete the campaign on time, while their performance will also be evaluated on the basis of the success of this campaign.
