Bannu Police defuse roadside bomb, foil terror plot

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) Bannu police on Wednesday successfully defused a roadside bomb and foiled a major terror plot within the limits of Mandan Police Station.

According to a police spokesman, Mandan police received intelligence that miscreants had planted an explosive device along the Bazeed Tughalkhel section of the Bannu–Kakki Road, a busy national highway.

Acting swiftly, DSP Rural-I Arshad Khan, along with Mandan police, reached the spot and cordoned off the area.

The Bomb Disposal Squad, using modern equipment and following strict safety procedures, defused the locally made improvised explosive device (IED), which was operated through a remote-control mechanism.

The bomb was concealed inside a plastic bucket and contained more than five kilograms of explosive material. Two detonators, a 12-volt battery and an electric circuit were also recovered from the site.

DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan and DPO Yasir Afridi commended the police for their timely and successful action, saying the operation prevented a major act of terrorism on a public roadway.

They said the attempt to plant a bomb at a public place exposed the malicious intentions of terrorists.

On the occasion, DIG Sajjad Khan urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious elements in their surroundings to help ensure collective security and public safety.
