Metrological department warns of rainfall in high altitudes, advises precautions

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) The Metrological Department on Sunday predicted rainfall in some mountainous areas of the country and advised tourists and citizens to remain vigilant, particularly in regions at risk of flooding, while also urging the public to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable locations amid the expected weather conditions.

Media report said Met Department has informed that in several regions, especially hilly and low-lying areas there was a potential risk of flash flooding, strong winds and sudden weather shifts and citizens were advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable locations and stay updated with weather alerts as changing climate patterns may intensify such conditions.

The Met Department added Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy over the next 24 hours, with strong winds and rain accompanied by thunder showers.

Lahore may also receive rain, with the current temperature recorded at 37 degrees Celsius and the maximum expected to reach 39 degrees, media reported, quoting the Met Department officials as saying.

According to the report, the Met department officials said that Gilgit-Baltistan would experience partly cloudy conditions with strong winds and rain along with thunder showers in several areas.

The Met Department officials that most districts of Balochistan will remain hot and dry, however rain with strong winds and thunder showers is likely in Kohlu, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Khuzdar and nearby regions.

The officials also added that most districts of Sindh would stay hot and dry, while upper areas may see partly cloudy weather with chances of rain, strong winds and thunder showers in Sukkur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana and adjoining areas.
