Chasing a modest target of 115 runs, Bangladesh comfortably reached total in 15.1 overs with loss of just two wickets

DHAKA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 11th, 2026) Bangladesh national cricket team defeated Pakistan national cricket team by eight wickets in the first match of the three-match One Day International series in Dhaka, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.

Chasing a modest target of 115 runs, Bangladesh comfortably reached the total in 15.1 overs with the loss of just two wickets.

Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 27 runs, while Tanzid Hasan played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 67 runs.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr took one wicket each.

The match was played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and opted to field first.

Pakistan openers Sahibzada Farhan and Moaz Sadaqat started the innings, but Farhan was dismissed after scoring 27 runs. Shamyl Hussain managed only four runs, while debutant Moaz Sadaqat scored 18 runs in his first international appearance.

Bangladesh’s bowlers dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, bowling out the entire side for 114 runs in 30.

Among Pakistan’s batters, Faheem Ashraf was the top scorer with 37 runs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 10, Salman Ali Agha made five, Hussain Talat scored four, while Abdul Samad and Mohammad Wasim Jr were dismissed for nought. Shaheen Afridi scored four runs, while Abrar Ahmed remained not out on zero.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana delivered a career-best performance in ODIs, taking five wickets for 24 runs. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz also played a key role with the ball, claiming three wickets for 29 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi had said that his team would also have chosen to bat first on the same pitch if they had won the toss, adding that a total between 270 and 280 runs would have been competitive on the surface.

The match also saw four Pakistan players — Sahibzada Farhan, Moaz Sadaqat, Abdul Samad and Shamyl Hussain — making their ODI debuts. It was the first time since 2008 that so many players debuted simultaneously for Pakistan in the ODI format.
