Rescue 1122 on high alert for Muharram

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 has finalized a comprehensive emergency cover plan for 9th Muharram and Ashura, placing all operational units on high alert across the district.

According to District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Mian, more than 600 rescue personnel have been deployed to ensure public safety during Muharram processions and gatherings. The emergency deployment includes 30 ambulances, 93 motorbike ambulances, 15 fire tenders and two special emergency response vehicles.

Dr Hussain Mian said the emergency cover plan is being closely monitored, while Rescue 1122's control room remains operational round the clock to ensure an immediate response to all emergency calls. Special mobile posts have been established along major procession routes and at key Imambargahs to provide timely medical assistance and emergency support.

He added that motorbike ambulance teams have been stationed at designated locations to facilitate rapid response in congested areas. Rescue stations across the district have also been placed on alert, with emergency vehicles and staff ready to respond to any situation.

Trained Rescue 1122 volunteers have been deployed to assist rescue teams during Muharram activities. Special emergency posts and vehicles have also been positioned along the route of the central 9th Muharram procession in Mumtazabad Main Market.

The District Emergency Officer emphasized that any delay or negligence in emergency response would not be tolerated and directed all personnel to remain vigilant throughout the observance of Muharram.
