Bahawalnagar cracks down on profiteers, 61 arrested, fines hit Rs 4.16m

BAHAWALNAGAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Mar, 2026) The district administration in Bahawalnagar has intensified its price control campaign during Ramazan, arresting 61 profiteers and imposing fines exceeding Rs4.16 million. The crackdown aims to provide relief to consumers on essential food items.

According to APP correspondent, price control magistrates inspected across the district, taking action against 1,129 violators for overcharging. Fines amounting to Rs4,167,000 were imposed, and 20 outlets were sealed for persistent non-compliance.

Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhoun stated the crackdown protects citizens from profiteering, ensuring essentials are available at government-prescribed rates. Citizens visiting Ramazan bazaars expressed satisfaction over reduced prices and improved facilities.

The administration vows to continue the price control operation throughout Ramazan, maintaining market stability and preventing artificial inflation.
