ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Acting on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the district administration, in collaboration with the Labour & Human Resource Department, has intensified efforts to eradicate child labour and bonded labour across Attock. The renewed drive was reviewed on Tuesday during the monthly meeting of the District Vigilance Committee (DVC), chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anil Saeed at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Briefing the meeting, Assistant Director Labour & Human Resource Adnan Saleem said five First Information Reports (FIRs) had been registered during the previous month against the owners of five establishments for violating child labour laws. He added that regular inspections were underway to ensure strict compliance with labour laws, particularly those relating to occupational health, workplace safety, and workers’ welfare.
The committee also conducted a comprehensive review of measures aimed at enforcing occupational health and safety regulations, preventing accidents in industrial and commercial establishments, expanding registration under the Social Security system, and strengthening implementation of other labour-related laws.

Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anil Saeed directed the Labour Department to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards violations of child labour, bonded labour, and workplace safety laws. He underscored that the health, safety, and welfare of workers must remain a top priority and instructed authorities to initiate stringent legal action against individuals and establishments found flouting labour regulations.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the District Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, Pakistan Workers Federation, Social Security Department, Brick Kiln Union, Taxila Cotton Mills, and other relevant departments and stakeholders.
