ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi on Thursday emphasized the need for unity among the nation amid the evolving regional situation in the wake of attack on Iran.

Addressing a press conference here, Ashrafi said the entire Muslim world was currently in a state of grief due to an attack on Iran, in which more than 1,000 people were martyred.

On behalf of Pakistan, he felicitated the Iranian nation on the appointment of Iran’s new supreme leader and stated that Ali Khamenei had conveyed a message of unity and solidarity.

Ashrafi added that religious scholars in Pakistan had also emphasized the need for unity and harmony.

He pointed out that certain elements on social media operating from outside the country were attempting to create unrest in Pakistan.

On the occasion, a leader of the Shia Ulema Council, Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, said it was time for the Gulf states and Iran to realize that attempts were being made to create divide among Muslim countries.

He noted that Gulf nations had announced they would not allow their place to be used against Iran, while Iran had also distanced itself from attacks on Gulf countries.
