As CBM by US, 22 Iranian crew members from seized ship evacuated to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) In a significant confidence-building measure by the United States of America, twenty-two crew members who were held aboard the seized Iranian container ship, ‘MV Touska’, have been evacuated to Pakistan.

The Foreign Office spokesperson, in a statement, said that the individuals were flown to Pakistan late Sunday night and were scheduled to be handed over to the Iranian authorities on Monday (today).

The spokesperson said that the Iranian ship would be backloaded to Pakistani territorial waters for return to its original owners following necessary repairs.

These repatriation efforts are being coordinated in tandem with the support of both the Iranian and US sides.

"Pakistan welcomes such confidence-building measures and will continue to facilitate dialogue and diplomacy while pursuing ongoing mediation efforts for regional peace and security," the spokesperson added.
