Anti tobacco measures discussed

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) An important meeting of the Divisional Implementation and Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali regarding the effective implementation of tobacco

control and anti-tobacco laws.

The meeting was attended by officers of the relevant departments, while a detailed review of tobacco

control measures, public awareness campaigns and law implementation was taken across the division.

During the meeting, the Commissioner Sargodha Division directed to ensure strict implementation of

the laws banning smoking in educational institutions, public places and government offices.

He said

that all the relevant institutions should adopt a coordinated strategy to protect the young generation

from the harmful effects of smoking and action should be taken against those who violate the anti-tobacco laws.

The meeting also considered various suggestions related to awareness programs, making the monitoring

system more effective and conducting regular inspections at the district level.

The Commissioner directed that performance reports regarding the implementation of the tobacco

control policy be compiled regularly so that effective progress could be ensured as per the government instructions.
