WAH CANTT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The authorities on Monday launched a three-day anti-polio vaccination campaign in the garrison city of Taxila, deploying hundreds of teams to immunize children under five as the country intensifies efforts to eradicate the crippling disease.
Member, National Assembly, Asiya Naz Tanoli inaugurated the Special National Immunization Drive at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital , Taxila, the official sources said.
Assistant Commissioner, Maria Javed, Deputy District Health Officer, Dr. Shahzad and Medical Superintendent Dr. Kashif, along with other health officials, attended the ceremony.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The officials said 651 vaccination teams had been deployed across Taxila to carry out door-to-door immunization during the campaign.
The speakers at the event underscored the importance of administering polio drops to children under the age of five to protect them from lifelong disability and reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating the disease.
The authorities urged parents to cooperate with the health workers and ensure their children receive the vaccine, stressing that public participation remained vital for the country's goal of becoming polio-free.
