Four-day anti-polio campaign begins amid tight security

NOWSHERA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) A four-day anti-polio campaign commenced here on Monday with extensive security arrangements put in place to ensure the safety of vaccination teams and smooth conduct of the drive.

According to a spokesperson for Nowshera Police, children under the age of five will be administered polio drops during the campaign to protect them against the crippling disease.

More than 1,400 police officers and personnel have been deployed across the district to provide security during the campaign.

District Police Officer Ahmad Shah is personally supervising the security arrangements, while SDPOs and SHOs have been directed to utilize all available resources to maintain peace and order.

Police officials said security personnel would use professional expertise to ensure foolproof protection for polio workers.

Checkpoints have been established on key roads across the district, where police commandos are conducting strict checking of suspicious vehicles and motorcyclists.

Mobile patrolling has also been intensified in urban and rural areas, with police teams continuously monitoring sensitive locations.

Reserve police force has been kept on standby at district headquarters and police stations to ensure quick response in case of any emergency.

The spokesperson said all police personnel were given special instructions before deployment, including remaining alert, closely monitoring their surroundings, and immediately reporting any suspicious activity.

Nowshera Police reiterated that maintaining law and order during the anti-polio campaign remains the top priority to ensure every eligible child receives the vaccine.
