Animal transport loader rickshaws allowed on Canal Road ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi has announced temporary relief for loader rickshaws transporting sacrificial animals allowing them to use Canal Road till Eid-ul-Azha.

According to a spokesperson for City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL),the permission has been granted to facilitate transportation of sacrificial animals amid increased movement ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The CTO clarified that only those loader rickshaws engaged in transporting sacrificial animals would be allowed to use Canal Road, while action against other loader rickshaws would continue under traffic regulations.

He said no concession would be given to rickshaws operating without valid licenses, violating lane discipline or committing traffic violations.

CTO Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi added that loader rickshaws carrying T-irons,iron rods,bamboo or other commercial material would not be allowed to enter Canal Road under any circumstances.

He observed that Qingqi and loader rickshaws often caused traffic congestion,reckless driving and accidents,adding that restrictions on model roads would remain in place to ensure smooth traffic flow and protection of citizens’ lives and property.

The CTO said that CTPL had intensified traffic management measures in view of increased shopping activity and transportation of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

He also appealed to citizens, drivers and transporters to strictly follow traffic laws and cooperate with wardens to maintain smooth flow of traffic across the city during the Eid season.
