MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Preparations are underway across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for the observance of Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day on July 19, with political, social and civil society organizations planning commemorative events to mark the anniversary. Organizers said ceremonies, seminars, rallies and public gatherings would be held throughout AJK and in Kashmiri diaspora communities abroad.

According to the organizers, the observance commemorates the resolution adopted on July 19, 1947, by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, which supported the accession of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan. They said the anniversary would be marked with a renewed commitment to continue efforts in support of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to highlight their political aspirations.

The week-long programme will include special events in major cities and towns across AJK, where speakers are expected to discuss the historical significance of the July 19 resolution and reiterate support for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Organizers said the commemorations would also include prayers, conferences and public awareness activities.

The issue of Jammu and Kashmir remains disputed between India and Pakistan, with both countries administering parts of the territory while claiming it in full. Pakistan maintains that the dispute should be resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, while India considers Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of its territory.
