AJK prepare to celebrate Eid ul-Azh with religious fervor

MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 25th May, 2026) The people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are making extensive preparations to celebrate Eid- ul-Azha with religious devotion and traditional enthusiasm as the government expected to announce four public holidays from May 26 to May 29, officials sources said on Monday.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques across the region for the unity and prosperity of the Muslim world, Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as for Palestinians and Kashmiris living under Indian rule, according to official sources.

Eid prayer congregations are expected to take place in all 10 districts of the territory, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Bagh, Rawalakot and Neelum Valley.

The worshippers will gather at mosques, Eid grounds and open spaces to mark the Islamic festival, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

The largest congregation in the regional capital, Muzaffarabad, is expected to be held at the Central Eidgah, where hundreds of worshippers are likely to attend prayers.

The religious scholars and clerics from different Islamic schools of thought will deliver sermons highlighting the spiritual significance of the Eid and the message of sacrifice and obedience associated with Prophet Ibrahim.
