MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Captain (Retd.) Malik Liaquat Hussain on Saturday conducted a walk through Mirpur's commercial district, engaging directly with residents, traders and shopkeepers in a people-focused outreach aimed at strengthening community policing and improving public confidence in law enforcement.
Walking from Mian Muhammad Road to Chowk Shaheedan, the IGP visited markets, including Sarafa Bazaar, where he reviewed security arrangements and sought firsthand feedback on law and order, traffic management and public safety. Citizens welcomed the initiative and shared suggestions on policing and municipal issues, which the police chief said would help improve service delivery.
Addressing members of the public, Malik Liaquat Hussain reaffirmed that protecting lives and property remains the police force's foremost responsibility.

He also directed officers to enhance patrolling and reinforce security measures at commercial centres across the city.
The visit was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General Kamran Ali, Senior Superintendent of Police Khurram Iqbal, President of the Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Umar Shehzad Jarral and other officials. Traders and residents praised the IGP's direct engagement with the public, expressing hope that the initiative would lead to further improvements in security, traffic management and public services across Mirpur.
